Surrender
The Blessedness of Possessing Nothing
2026-07-03
Begin with open hands and learn why surrender is not loss but freedom before God.
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 5:3
The pursuit of God begins where grasping ends. We often come to prayer carrying proofs of our usefulness, anxieties about what we might lose, and quiet bargains about what obedience should cost. Yet the soul grows light when it stops defending its little kingdom.
Today, name the things that have become too heavy to carry: reputation, control, certainty, comfort, approval. Offer them to God without theatrical language. Let surrender become specific.
Prayer: Father, make my heart poor enough to receive You as treasure. Teach me the liberty of belonging wholly to You.
